Methodology
The PASS program delivers curricular content that uses a variety of educational theories and methods.
PASS/Cyber High accomplishes this component by ensuring that all courses are embedded with the student academic achievement standards established by the State of California.
The courses are further validated by having the same unbiased standards of achievement for every student, regardless of the location or time. The only difference from the traditional educational system and the competency-based PASS/Cyber High system is that students are not required to take an assessment until they comprehend the material upon which they will be tested.
In addition, PASS/Cyber High has developed a system whereby the educational disruption is minimized through the continuity of curriculum, non-specific location, and acceptance of credit.
Language barriers are reduced through courses in Spanish and other challenges caused by migratory status are addressed in the courses themselves. An example of this would be in the health and career related courses.
The activities in PASS/Cyber High are designed to teach students to think critically and to find applications to daily living. All of these examples as well as the documented history of PASS/Cyber High leads to the successful transition of students to postsecondary education or employability.
