I. Before a student begins a course, review the following as a group
- Purpose - Why the course is important
- Instructional Objectives - what the student will learn
- Student Directions - Describe what the student is suppose to do to complete the unit
II. Set clear goals for completion
- One unit (book per week)
- Self-check activities (Coop Learning)
- Contact person meets with student on a regular basis and reviews work.
- Contact Person checks workbook before test is taken.

- All items answered
- Matching - do answers appear reasonable
- Student name, course and grade information written in
IV. Share grade report form with student
- If first grade is D or F, monitor next unit more carefully
- Encourage positive self-talk
- Praise passing grades lavishly
