Mission Statement

The philosophical construct which drives the efforts of the program is student centered. All students have the capacity to learn and deserve a quality education which empowers them to become successful. Migrant secondary students bring unique experiences and a rich cultural diversity to society. The mission of the PASS Program is to provide academic course work that meets California State Content Standards and Frameworks, and promotes critical thinking skills. Students are expected to succeed, to improve their self confidence and to receive necessary credits toward graduation. They are encouraged to become lifelong learners who are prepared to meet the challenges of the global economy and the changing demands of the workplace.

Any student enrolled in any high school district in California may enroll in PASS courses in order to make up credit deficiencies. In accordance with the California Department of Education, PASS courses have been revised to meet California State Content Standards and Frameworks to establish high expectations of the participants.

Participation in the PASS Program must be guided by classroom teachers, counselors, or credentialed personnel. The curriculum is designed to provide meaningful educational experiences which encourage problem solving and higher thinking skills for all students served.
