New and discontinued courses for 2009

Curriculum Changes

Effective September 1, 2009

Please be advised that September 1, 2009, there will be changes in the California PASS curriculum in both the PASS Workbook and the Cyber High Computer format.

Two new elective courses will be introduced titled Learning in the Information Age A and Learning in the Information Age B.  These courses will replace existing elective course work as specified below:

PASS Workbook Format:

Learning in the Information Age A will replace Study Techniques
Learning in the Information Age B will replace Applied Learning Methods

Please Note: 

The concepts presented in the original course version have been preserved. The new information addresses skills more appropriate for the classroom and the workplace of today.

  1. All units in both courses must be finished including testing before September 1, 2009.
  2. It is imperative that students are informed that there will be no testing available for Study Techniques and Applied Learning Methods after August 31, 2009.
  3. Beginning September 1, 2009, all students must begin working in the new courses, Learning in the Information Age A and Learning in the Information Age B.
  4. If a student does not complete a unit or take the corresponding unit exam for Study Techniques or Applied Learning Methods by September 1, 2009, the student will have to start the unit over in the new course.
  5. The student may continue with the next unit in the new course. For example, if the student completed Unit 3 of Study Techniques, he may continue with Unit 4 in Learning in the Information Age A.  All credits earned in the original course will continue to accrue under the new course name.


Cyber High Computer Courses:

Learning in the Information Age A will replace Study Techniques

Please Note:

  1. All Study Techniques units must be finished including testing before September 1, 2009.
  2. It is imperative that students are informed that there will be no testing available for Study Techniques after August 31, 2009.
  3. On September 1, 2009, students will no longer have access to Study Techniques. 
  4. If a student does not complete a unit or take the corresponding unit exam for Study Techniques by August 31, 2009,  please havethe student start the unit over in the new course, Learning in the Information Age A.
  5. The student may continue with the next unit in the new course. For example, if the student completed Unit 3 of Study Techniques, she may continue with Unit 4 in Learning in the Information Age A.  All Study Technique credits earned will continue to accrue under Learning in the Information Age A.

 
Applied Learning Methods will be discontinued. The replacement course for Applied Learning Methods, Learning in the Information Age B, will not be available until further notice.

Please Note:

  1.  All units in progress for Applied Learning Methods must be finished including testing before September 1, 2009. At this point no testing will be available and only partial credit will be offered for exams completed with a score of 60% or above.
  2. Unless Applied Learning Methods can be completed before September 1, 2009, it should not be approved for any student who needs five (5) elective credits.
  3. Once Learning in the Information Age B is released, all credits earned in Applied Learning Methods will continue to accrue under the title, Learning in the Information Age B.
